Perseus Mining reports larger gold resources and reserves
Perseus Mining (ASX/TSX: PRU) reported Aug. 26 that group Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources increased by 2.9 million ounces, or 37%, to 10.6 million ounces of gold. Proved and Probable Ore Reserves rose by 2.0 million ounces, or 40%, to 7.0 million ounces. The company also reported a 15% increase in Yaouré Ore Reserves, a 54% increase in Edikan M&I Mineral Resources, and a 75% increase in Nyanzaga Ore Reserves since June 2025.
South32 expands Sierra Gorda copper reserve
South32’s 45%-owned Sierra Gorda copper mine in Chile was reported to have increased its ore reserve by 61% to 1.1 billion tonnes. The reserve averages 0.39% copper, 0.016% molybdenum and 0.06 grams per tonne gold, with a reported copper-equivalent grade of 0.46%. Mining Weekly said the update extends the initial reserve life by about five years to 2045; the reported mineral resource is 1.87 billion tonnes.
Paladin Energy posts FY2026 uranium operating figures
Paladin Energy (ASX/TSX: PDN; OTCQX: PALAF) released its FY2026 results for the year ended June 30. Its 75%-owned Langer Heinrich Mine produced 4.82 million pounds of U3O8 and sold 4.35 million pounds at an average realised price of US$70.0 per pound. The release reported US$304.3 million in sales revenue and a US$9.1 million net loss after tax for the year.
First Lithium adds concessions at Chilean brine project
First Lithium Minerals (CSE: FLM; OTC Pink: FLMCF; FSE: X28) said it staked 900 hectares of new mining concessions at the Ascotan Project in Chile’s Antofagasta Region, bringing the project land package to approximately 6,400 hectares. The company is exploring for lithium, boron and potash mineralization and expects to begin a 1,500-metre drilling program in the 2026/27 exploration season, subject to capital, permits, licences and community agreements.
Horizon Gold outlines an 800-metre extension at Gum Creek
Horizon Gold reported drilling that confirmed an 800-metre southern extension of gold mineralization at the Howards deposit within its 100%-owned Gum Creek project in Western Australia. Reported intersections included 6 metres at 5.57 grams per tonne gold from 70 metres, including 3 metres at 9.91 grams per tonne, and 6 metres at 12.67 grams per tonne from 114 metres at Heron South, including 1 metre at 58.70 grams per tonne. Howards is reported to host 6.85 million tonnes at 1.11 grams per tonne gold for 245,300 ounces.
Waratah Minerals identifies shallow gold at Consols
Waratah Minerals reported that step-out hole SPD074 extended the Consols gold system at its Spur project in New South Wales by 75 metres to the east and down-plunge. The hole returned 12.7 metres at 1.35 grams per tonne gold from 44 metres, including 5 metres at 3.24 grams per tonne and 1 metre at 13.23 grams per tonne. The company is drilling up-dip and down-dip of SPD074 and plans follow-up work to test continuity and extensions.
