Daily Mining Update: Gold Permits, Copper Drilling and Q2 Results — August 8, 2026

Selected mining and natural-resource company updates published over the past 24–48 hours include a new gold permit in Mali, 2026 operating guidance in Ghana, second-quarter results from a precious-metals streaming company and a diamond producer, and fresh copper-gold exploration activity in British Columbia.

B2Gold receives Menankoto exploitation permit in Mali

B2Gold said the State of Mali granted its Malian subsidiary the Menankoto Exploitation Permit on August 7. Together with the Dandoko exploration permit, Menankoto forms Fekola Regional, which is approximately 20 kilometres from the Fekola Mine. B2Gold said pre-stripping activities and finalization of a tolling agreement will now commence. Fekola Regional is expected to ramp up through the end of 2027 and produce in excess of 150,000 ounces of gold per year from 2028 through the mid-2030s. The company said Fekola Regional will be owned 65% by B2Gold and 35% by the State of Mali.

Asante sets 2026 gold production and cost guidance

Asante Gold provided full-year 2026 guidance of 275,000–300,000 ounces of gold at an all-in sustaining cost of US$3,200–US$3,600 per ounce for its Bibiani and Chirano mines. The company said substantially higher production and lower costs are expected in the second half of 2026, weighted toward the fourth quarter, as it gains access to higher-grade material at the northern base of Bibiani’s Main Pit. Asante also said approximately US$50 million of previously planned capital expenditure has been deferred or cancelled while operating initiatives across mining, processing, capital projects and supply chain are implemented.

Wheaton reports record second-quarter revenue and cash flow

Wheaton Precious Metals reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of US$929.2 million, net earnings of US$543.2 million and operating cash flow of US$649.5 million. Gold-equivalent production was 202,229 ounces and gold-equivalent sales were 209,115 ounces. The company said revenue was split 46% gold, 52% silver, 0.3% palladium and 2% cobalt. Wheaton also said the Blackwater Phase 1A expansion was 57% complete at the end of the quarter and remained scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Lucara maintains revenue outlook as Karowe underground work advances

Lucara Diamond reported Q2 2026 revenue of US$41.0 million, compared with US$43.7 million in Q2 2025. Operating cost was US$23.76 per tonne processed, down from US$26.76 a year earlier. Karowe recovered 90,082 carats in the quarter, including 176 stones classified as Specials, and Lucara maintained full-year revenue guidance of US$100 million–US$130 million. Open-pit mining remains on track to conclude in Q4 2026, while the company said production-shaft winders for the Karowe Underground Project were licensed by Botswana’s Department of Mines in July. Lucara also reported recovering a 1,303-carat Type IIa diamond in July after quarter-end.

Pacific Ridge starts drilling at RDP copper-gold project

Pacific Ridge Exploration said drilling is underway at its 100%-owned RDP copper-gold project in British Columbia. The company plans approximately 3,000 metres at the Day target to test the interpreted porphyry centre between two magnetic lobes and further define the 2025 western-lobe discovery. Pacific Ridge cited a 2025 result of 112.2 metres grading 1.35% copper equivalent, or 2.02 grams per tonne gold equivalent, within 405.0 metres grading 0.71% copper equivalent, or 1.06 grams per tonne gold equivalent. Those equivalent-grade calculations use company-estimated recoveries, and the release states that metallurgical recovery testing has not yet been completed on RDP mineralization.

Newcore files Enchi gold project PFS technical report

Newcore Gold said it filed the technical report supporting the Pre-Feasibility Study for its Enchi Gold Project in Ghana. The report, with an effective date of June 23, 2026, describes a base case built around conventional open-pit mining, standard milling and carbon-in-leach processing at 5.5 million tonnes per year using contract mining. Newcore said more than 50,000 metres from an 80,000-metre drill program were not included in the PFS basis; results from 2026 drilling are intended for future resource, reserve and project economic studies.
