BHP reports copper-led fiscal-year results
BHP’s fiscal 2026 results release says the diversified miner produced approximately 2 million tonnes of copper during the year ended June 30, 2026. BHP also said copper contributed more than half of underlying EBITDA, highlighting the commodity’s growing importance in the group’s portfolio.
American Eagle reports a 1,001-metre NAK copper-gold intercept
American Eagle Gold reported that hole NAK26-87 at its NAK project in British Columbia returned 1,001 metres grading 0.46% copper equivalent from 39 metres to 1,040 metres, including 218 metres grading 1.01% copper equivalent. The company describes the result as a step-out drill hole; drill results alone do not establish a mineral resource or reserve.
Electra advances Ontario cobalt-refinery construction
In its Aug. 18 construction update, Electra Battery Materials said concrete work, structural-steel erection, equipment installation and piping preparation are advancing at its cobalt sulfate refinery in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario. Electra said select commissioning activities remain targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026, with mechanical completion targeted for the second quarter of 2027 and commercial production targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027.
Premier American Uranium identifies mineralized trends at Kaycee
Premier American Uranium said its 2026 Kaycee drilling program in Wyoming had completed 50 holes totaling 41,960 feet, or approximately 42% of the planned 100,000 feet. At Rustler, 13 of 22 holes encountered uranium at or above 0.02% eU3O8; the company reported hole RT26-085 at 3.5 feet grading 0.135% eU3O8, including 2 feet at 0.204%. The reported eU3O8 values are equivalent-uranium readings from gamma logging, not direct chemical assays.
OceanaGold proposes A$776 million Ausgold acquisition
OceanaGold announced a proposed acquisition of Ausgold, owner of the Katanning Gold Project in Western Australia, through an Australian court-approved scheme. The release places the implied equity value at approximately A$776 million and says Ausgold shareholders are expected to own about 6% to 8% of OceanaGold if the transaction completes, subject to shareholder, regulatory and other conditions.
China Gold outlines CSH mine slope-remediation timetable
China Gold International Resources said remediation plans for the Chang Shan Hao Gold Mine in Inner Mongolia have been approved. The company expects key interim works to be completed by the end of September 2026 to mitigate the principal hazards and meet safety conditions for a normal resumption, with mining expected to resume progressively thereafter subject to inspections and safety requirements.
Endeavour Silver reports Terronera suspension
Endeavour Silver said operations at the Terronera mine in Jalisco, Mexico have been suspended since Aug. 12 following a blockade by a nearby Ejido community. The company said discussions are ongoing over road maintenance, medical and communications services, water access and financial assistance, while a reduced workforce remains on site for maintenance and security.
